there was this huge teenager standing in the slide and my son thought is funny to slide and try to push him out since he was not moving.

when my son slid; the boy lost balance and fell on my son’s head. The boy is huge, I didn’t see when it happened but I heard my son scream.
I went there to comfort him and all mums here saying don’t take him to A&E.
my sons seems fine and only head a bump in his head.
I couldn’t even tell that teenager off because it was my son’s fault 😭😭😭😭

my sons playing again and it’s like nothing happened and now I feel like I am overreacting.

You are overreacting. Nothing 'fell on your son's head'. A teenager fell over (because your son pushed him) and your son was knocked over in the process. He is now fine. You can get on with your day.

i don’t think starting a mumsnet thread could be regarded as “over reacting”

The full weight of the teen didn't fall on his head. I'm sure he's fine, just keep an eye for the usual head injury symptoms that need attention.

WTF was the teen doing blocking the slide, it's not your son's behaviour that was off.

Parentingfullofworris · 21/08/2024 18:03

Yes my sons said he got tired of waiting so he just went for it but I still told my son off because that could have ended worst for my son. I said he is triple your size and he fell on my son’s head. My son has a bump on his head so definitely impact happened but I don’t know how serious 😭

Maybe OP should learn her child

Maybe the Op should teach her child

is surely what you mean?

If you are going to pull others up on their grammar, you need to make sure that your own is perfect - eg capital letters and full stops in the right place .

Personally I think as long as we all get the gist of what someone is saying, it's fine. But if you are going to be that arsehole, then you need to up your own game.

i wasn’t pulling anyone up on grammar

my phone is buggered and caps require about five minutes of banging on the keypad!

It was a judgey post about the OP’s parenting and i pointed out that entirely the wrong word had been made in the judgey post. Nothing to do with grammar

he won’t be giving this another thought

he went down the slide
he hurt himself
no learning experience about karma 😆

Unless he’s a bit thick, he’ll know not to do it again.

Parentingfullofworris · 22/08/2024 00:19

Anyone going through the same with their child. a&e found noting with my son and we home. ❤️❤️❤️ thank you all

He’s 5
He will almost definitely do it again ie slide down a slide when it’s not his turn and when someone standing in the way 😆

Exactly! What a dick the teen was blocking the slide so little kids couldn't play. Hate it when kids do that, never mind teens who are old enough to know better.

coffeenootropics · 22/08/2024 08:24

is it possible the teen was with his younger sibling and at the bottom of the slide waiting to catch him or her

i used to wait at bottom of slide for my child

WickieRoy · 22/08/2024 08:28

Did you ever do that in such a way that you were standing in the slide blocking it and putting yourself at risk of being taken out by a sliding child? Nah, he was being a dick.

The correct solution would be to teach small children to avoid provoking or trying to squeeze between bigger kids/teenagers on the same equipment. Instead of literally watching a situation unfold where the smaller one is probably going to get hurt. Regardless of why the teenager was on the slide, it was clearly not safe or polite for a small child to try pushing them aside.

And the title is a tiny bit dramatic. 60kg didn't fall on his head, a larger child fell on top of a younger one (who was able to run and play just fine afterwards). Imagine the people at A&E hearing the story...

Why would anyone be going through the same with their child?!
Your child has been assessed as fine by medical professionals, put it behind you (and teach your son some playground protocol so it doesn’t happen again).
