Tummy pains in 6 year old

Evening to all, I could use some advice.

We had a KFC coming home on Sunday from holiday but within an hour of eating it my 6 year old daughter had bad tummy pains and eventually was sick, she was ill only the 1 time but had tummy pain and a mix of hard and fluffy poos for a few days. Assume food poising but I know there are a lot of tummy bugs going around as well.

We all didn’t eat the same and myself and my husband were fine. When it got to Thursday (4 days later) and though her poo has gone back to normal she was still getting pains I took her to the doctor who did the normal checks and said she seems ok but we could give her Buscopan for a few days to help with pain. It’s now been a few days (Saturday) and she said it doesn’t feel any different. She is still eating and drinks though not eating as much, passing urine and poo ok and is chatty but has been laying down more than normal and a bit more emotional. She said the pain is only a little and it is on and of during the day but worse at night.

Has anyone else has something similar? They do say it can take up to two weeks for a tummy to settle but I wonder if it is excess gas or acid as she said it feels swirly and poppy but somtimes like little needles.

i will take her back to doctors but wondered if anyone has had similar situations, any replies or advice would be really helpful.

thank you

Kathy

If she was sick within the hour then it must have been quite intense poisoning. Tbh im not surprised it's still hurting a bit now.
If it was myself I'd try peppermint tea, though not sure if you could get this into a 6 year old.

Sometimes when children are unwell the glands in the tummy get bigger and cause pain. I'm almost certain this happens with one of my daughters because no matter what illness she has she has tummy ache!
Have a google of Mesenteric Adenitis

Sounds like my child before she was diagnosed with coeliac disease.

As a family we don't eat a huge amount of gluten because other family members are also coeliac but it was a rare takeaway that resulted in a massive dose of gluten and subsequent coeliac symptoms that caused us to get her tested.

Could just be a normal stomach bug though. Lots going around for that age group at the moment.
