My 3 year old said he swallowed a kawaii squishy toy, he's ok in himself, he's talking, we've looked everywhere for it and we can't find it, I don't know if it'll pass in his stools or if they're dangerous like toxic, he's passing wind through his back passage I just don't know what to do, there was no health risks on the packaging, there was no information on it as it was out of one of those machines in the supermarket

Whew!

Hope you’re over your fright now, OP. Better safe than sorry.

Let's just hope he passes it through, I had to call 111 and I had to get him checked over as anything could have happened and then it would have been on my conscious if something went wrong or lost my baby, my partner says I worry too much but you can never be too careful around kids especially at this young age, if I had ignored it and if he stopped breathing I would never have forgiven myself so I done what was best and got him to hospital, safe to say he loves ambulances x

How big are we talking?! How if he swallowed it then it’s going to be small enough to come out the other side 🤷‍♀️

Either way he’s 3. I would go to a and e.

Not necessarily - the gut has some narrower parts.

That’s good. I’m not sure people were sending you hate, you asked for opinions and many stressed you go to a&e, as that’s what anyone should do if they swallow an inorganic object. Especially a child. Well done for going and getting a professional opinion. Lets hope baby passes it without trouble

PoopedAndScooped · 09/08/2024 14:04

There was no hate OP

keepYourDogQuiet · 09/08/2024 14:41

That's a good update OP, hope your lad feels better soon

I'm sorry I'm so tired I haven't slept as I've been going in and checking on him ever since he came home from hospital, they refused to xray him as it wasn't a battery or anything serious in their opinion, he's eating no problem, he's swallowing foods and fluids, producing wet nappies and pull ups I've just been told to keep an eye for blood in stool and vomiting and a distended tummy, it's 4cm in length and width and thank you, sorry for seeming horrible xx

I've taken him to hospital, we were taken via ambulance as there was an issue that 111 were concerned with, he jerked in his sleep and the hospital wasn't even concerned with that, it took him a long while to answer his name, they reckoned he was in a deep sleep but even in a deep sleep he normally answers to his name but they discharged him without doing further obs or waiting for him to pass a stool

Thanks for the update

You absolutely did the right thing and I'm glad he's doing ok

The Dr explained it all perfectly to you

Final update, my son passed the squishy this morning, the stomach acid changed its colour but I'm glad it's out now and I'm proud of my son for telling me he swallowed it cause if he didn't tell me then I would have been more worried, my partner apologised to him for saying he lied about ingesting it when clearly he didn't as evidence showed in the nappy this morning
