Thermometers and temps

Hi just looking for a little advice!
DS has his one year jabs on Tuesday am (now Thursday pm) and is still running a high temp. The armpit thermometer is saying 38.3c and the in ear saying 37.4c. Quite a difference.
Just wondering which thermometers reading you would be leaning more to believe?
TIA

In ear. I don't think I've ever checked my kids armpit temperature.

I would have said in ear, but when my child was admitted to hospital recently they did under arm temps every 2 hours so who knows?

I think if their ear is small that sometimes the in ear thermometers aren't accurate. Whether it's in properly or not can make a degree's worth of difference with my DD. With a baby or a very ill child they stay still long enough to take an under arm temperature quite well in my experience.

Paediatric nurse here, we only do under arm. Tympanic thermometers are difficult to get in the right place. And babies ears are too small.

Thanks for all the replies, we ended up taking little man to the GP as he developed a cough and it turned out he had a chest infection! All cleared now but still not 100% bless him.
