Help! Is this a bee sting?

My baby (7 months) was happily in the jumperoo and suddenly burst into tears. When I fed her I noticed a bump on her leg with redness around it and a puncture/possible sting in the centre. Have attached pics. Is this a bee sting? If so how can I treat it? Worried about possible allergic reaction - happened about half an hour ago

It doesn’t look like a sting to me, plus you would’ve seen the bee flying around as it was dying.

Looks like it could be a wasp sting. I would recommend cooling it down - ice in a cloth or just cold water. It will help with the pain.

It looks a bit like how my stings/bites go. Do you have any sudocrem or anything similar? Keep an eye on the redness spreading

It looks like something, wasp sting maybe or horse fly bite? A bee usually leaves the stinger. I would apply antihistamine cream and pop give baby piriton - you may need to go to the pharmacy for this.

Looks just like a wasp sting. Poor little poppet, I got stung last year and it brought me to tears so I can’t imagine how she must feel.

I’d pop to a pharmacy and ask about baby antihistamines/creams. Calpol or Nurofen will help with the pain in the meantime. I hope she feels better soon!

It looks like a horse fly bite which can be painful and then itchy. Definitely get some antihistamine cream on to it as soon as you can just to ease it.

MigGril · 31/07/2024 14:56

Don't put any creams on it unless it's antihistamine. Cooling with cold compress is a good idea as is baby pirition.

Thanks everyone, really helpful advice.
I’ve got some infant piriton and antihistamine cream so will check she can have them at her age and give them a try. I didn’t see/hear a bee or wasp buzzing around so maybe it was a horsefly

She’s got a cold compress on it now while she’s sleeping.
