Looking for some advice please. Dd (8) complained of sore throat Thursday morning......didn't eat much and complained of being tired....spent the night vomiting (6 times) and had a raging fever that only subsided Saturday.....hasn't been sick since but hardly eating and now this rash has appeared......scarlet fever or not?.....its not raised but is extremely itchy......thanks in advance.....I am reluctant to call 111 as she is well in herself (apart from the lack of food and itchiness)......

Scarlet fever rash usually feels like sandpaper but doesn't tend to be itchy.
Usually presents on chest, arms and neck

Check her tongue for the telltale signs of scarlet fever google strawberry tongue)

Gp won't prescribe penV (penicillin) unless it's a confirmed case and often nort for children.

It is highly contagious so don't share cutlery, cups, etc and get her to cover her mouth when she coughs

I would keep an eye on her fever, give her juice and ice lollies, forget about food at the moment and ride it out unless she deteriorates
(Not a GP but I've had scarlet fever twice and DC once confirned, and once debateable in the last 3 years)

I don't know but if you suspect scarlet fever, especially if it's going round where you are, then you need to get it ruled out. Scarlet fever needs treating with antibiotics.
Scarlet fever does not always present with the classic cheek rash or the white 'strep throat'. Ask for a strep throat swab (you can also buy these tests online and possibly in some pharmacies).
