Hi, desperate dad and mam here. Basically 4 nights ago my little one started screaming every half an hour at night complaining of a "really really sore mouth" so we took her to the dentist and they can't see anything other than a small lip of gum still on her last molar tooth that come through. She's refusing to eat anything that isn't wheetabix and then when she goes to bed every half hour to an hour she's up for 10 minutes screaming the house down. Basically we are desperate does anyone have an idea of what this is and been through it. We basically havent had longer than an hour sleep at a time for 4 nights. how we can help her and Sorry for the long post.

I think if they’re in that much pain I’d ring 111 and try and get them checked out. Might be some sort of infection maybe.

We rang 111 yesterday evening and they said it wasn't serious enough to be seen. They sent a referal to our GP who said they didn't have any available appointments till Monday. Might have to ring choc again today. We aren't sure what's actually causing it. There must be pain somewhere but when I've inspected her mouth and poked and prodded i haven't found what's causing the issue.

So she’s not complaining at all in the day? What pain killers have you tried and do any of them make a difference? I presume there is no sign of swelling or similar?
Very odd that a dentist couldn’t see any problems.

Just done a quick google. Look up night bruxism.

Thank you for the replies, she has complain in the day as well, eating normal meals, but she's just ate a chocolate biscuit no issue until she finished then she came to me saying owww sore. It's really puzzled both of us. We have an autism assessment on Tuesday with a health visitor as we thunk she has tendencies.

Also she's had ibuprofen and calpol in 4 hour intervals and that hasn't made a difference at all. Made us wonder if she was having night terrors or something?

Hi there! How old is your little one, if I remember correctly It just fizzled out, we wernt totally sure as to what was causing it whether it was the lip of gum or scared to do so. All I can say is she doesn't do this now thankfully.
