Went for a free vision test in the country where I live for my one year old daughter and doctor said that my child is slightly farsighted. Meaning that she cant see things close up very well. Doctor said that this is common among very young babies and kids and that they usually grow out of it. We have scheduled another checkup when my daughter turns 2 (so in a years time). Has anyone else experienced this? Have your kids grown out of this? I know it sounds petty in the grand scheme of things but I don’t want my daughter to wear glasses at such a young age. 😔

It's totally normal. One of mine had glasses about age 4 for 6 months and then didn't need them.

Would you rather your child didn't see clearly? Sure you can take a moment to feel upset - but move on. My son had glasses from 7 months old. Suggest a FaceBook group called 'Forlittleeyes', you'll see you're not alone.

It would be abnormal for your child not to be slightly long sighted at that age.

it won’t affect the things she can see at all as children have a very strong focussing mechanism in their eye.

she will still be slightly long sighted when she next goes for a check up. It reduces to around +0.50 when they get to age 5.

At that age we would EXPECT a child to be slightly hyperopic. They can see just fine close up as they have really strong focussing muscles at that age. Someone in their 60s with that prescription might struggle, but not a toddler.

As they grow, their eyeballs also grow and they usually grow out of the hyperopia (long sight).

Do you have a copy of the prescription they found and can you tell us what it is? Also, did they use eye drops for the test?
