MMR 1 year vaccines - a year and a few months late

So my DD is now 2 years and 3 months, I previously did not get her 1 year vaccinations done as I’m ashamed to say I got caught up in all the fear mongering. Before she turned 2, I did my research and decided I will vaccinate her as I want her to be protected, she then got unwell so had to rebook but the doctors were being taken over by a new doctors and I had to wait so I’ve just managed to get an appointment now and I am absolutely bricking it.
I suffer with panic disorder and extreme anxiety so that doesnt help
I am extremely protective of my baby and hate it when she’s hurt and I know it’s for the better but I’m so scared I know it’s 4 injections and with her being older I just am terrified of how she will react and if she’ll hate me for
it

Please don’t worry ! You are doing the best thing to protect her . My 2 dc had their vaccines late as well. I then split them to do one at at time as I was so stressed but the gp was supportive and we got them all done . We only have one left to do the pre school boosters that my dd needs (she’s a year late for those )

Just try to remember the risks of the actual diseases are so much worse than any teeny tiny risk of vaccine reaction

Make sure you have Calpol / ibuprofen at home too in case of a fever and try not to worry Flowers

Ghost2 · 10/07/2024 23:14

You're protective of your baby yet put her at risk of death via preventable disease because you can't properly do your own research? Sounds like you've already set her up to fail.

Vaccinate her and try to be a better parent.

There’s literally no need to be so unkind and rude to the OP. You need to take a step back, re read OP post because she has explained why she hasn’t vaccinated yet and that she has an appointment.

Reassurance is needed not uncalled for rudeness.

Vaccination is a lot safer than the diseases it is designed to prevent. Remind yourself that you are doing this to protect your child. Be matter of fact, and don't let her see that you're upset. And have a treat ready for afterwards.

@Impossiblethree thank you so much for your response, I will be giving her calpol 20 mins before and taking ibuprofen with me, it’s so nerve wrecking especially with her being an opinionated sassy toddler. I just have to brave through it, I am having my whooping cough vaccine the same day and right before her so I am hoping that she will watch me and feel better about hers!

@Ghost2 tbh people like you shouldn’t be on a platform like this, I’m not going to dignify your response with any explanation! And @Impossiblethree thank you for your kind words and understanding xx

@Cocobellax Hi! I am just wondering how was your daughter after the MMR? My dd will have her mmr tomorrow and I am quite anxious of the side effects of it (like high temp) as my dd had a history of febrile seizure

Cocobellax · 06/11/2024 15:33

@12Anon hii
honestly I think this one was the one that affected her the least. About a week or
so later she did come up with a slight rash but that was about
it.
hope it all goes well for you! Xx
