3 year old head pain

In April my 3 year old complained a few times of a pain in her head. It was always in the same place (just above and behind her left ear). Each time the pains came completely out of nowhere, lasted a couple of seconds and made her cry, then they were gone as soon as they started. She’s absolutely fine in herself, eating, playing as usual. No other symptoms like sickness, dizziness. I had her eyes tested and no problems there.

Anyway, after the few episodes in April they stopped altogether, until yesterday. Same as before, a quick pain out of nowhere and then it was gone. I do have health anxiety when it comes to my daughter so yesterday’s pain has me spiralling. I’m struggling to find any info about what this could be as they are not typical headaches.

Anybody experienced anything similar?

Hi @HangryOP - these sound like ice pick headaches. I would speak to a GP and ask for a check up. Hopefully it’s nothing, especially in the absence of other symptoms. Have you got a diary of what may indicate a potential trigger for them? Definitely speak with GP for their advice

The NHS page tells you when to seek advice: https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/headaches/

But the GP is always there to advise so book an appointment and explain all the history.

Also see an optician to rule out any vision issues.

Keep a diary to see if there are obvious triggers.

I was going to say ice pick headaches but always check with a doctor
