15 months old vomiting

Hello,

Just looking for some advice.
DC is 15 months old. This morning she vomited 5 times. She vomited her breakfast out after about 30 mins of eating it. She then had a bottle of milk about 50 mins after vomiting and vomited it out immediately. After that she vomited 3 more times, with the final vomit mostly being wretching as there wasn't anything to vomit out anymore.

I gave her little sips of water. And then she's gone down for a nap now.

She doesn't have a fever and otherwise seems to be her playful self. Her poops and wees are all fine too.
I'm worried she hasn't eaten lunch and threw up her breakfast too.

NHS website says milk is ok, and to still give solids. But she keeps throwing everything up. I don't think this warrants A&E but I am worried about her not having fluids or nutrition. Does anyone know what I can do or whether I should give her any medicine?

Many thanks in advance.

She just needs to keep hydrated. Don’t worry about food for now. She won’t starve after a couple of days not eating.

If it only started today, and she's keeping down the sips of water you're giving her, I wouldn't personally be worried.

I think if she’s okay in herself best thing is just to continue with sips of water and milk when you can. Does she still have an appetite at all? I wouldn’t worry about her not taking in much for a day - when I’ve had a stomach bug I often have nothing for a full 24 hours other than a small amount of water it’s just needed sometimes.

when she’s ready for food you could follow the BRAT diet which is gentler on tummies - bananas, rice, alpplesauce and toast?

Hope it doesn’t last long.

She doesn't vomit immediately after the water but has continued to vomit despite having water if that makes sense.

Do you think it is ok to give her milk? She keeps asking for it?

No milk…just sips of water until she hasnt vomited for at least 2 hrs. You need to let the stomach settle down as its clearly very irritable right now. Once she hasnt vomited sips then move on to larger drinks of water and maybe some very very watered down orange juice. Once that has stayed down for a couple of hours try a dry cracker. Look up the BRATs diet and stick roughly to that.

Hydration is the most important thing, she will be fine without eating for a day if she is staying hydrated

That's fine, she'll be getting some hydration from it. Especially since you said she seems fine, and her nappies are fine.
