Anal fissures and constipation

Bit of a grim one but DS 7 has had hard stools and the occasional non-serious tear every couple of years which has never caused any discomfort but blood in poo which was diagnosed by gp.

about three weeks ago DS went for a poo and since then has had an awful fissure. The first week or so he was doubled over crying for hours every night and I made every natural attempt to improve it. Upped the water by 200%, fruit coming out of his ears, prunes for breakfast, baths a couple of times a day and sudocrem after a poo and Vaseline during a poo.

no Improvement so took him to the gp and had laxido prescribed 2 weeks ago. Ds up to 8 sachets a day, plus all of the other bells and whistles and still having solidish poo’s And quite a lot (although not as much discomfort). Checked his bum after a poo last week and there was a blue lump by his bum, googled and came straight up with a personal hematoma so went to the pharmacy and spoke to them who advised to carry on as normal. No need to go to the gp as I’m doing everything that I need to be doing.

does anyone have any advice or do I just need to stick it out. It’s horrible seeing him in so much discomfort every time he goes to the toilet

Sodium docusate was a game changer for DD - really softens things without any unpleasant side effects or urgency
