Was she injected in her legs? It may be a little sore. Have you given some pain relief such as calpol? Mine was always a grizzly after jabs

Lollibert · 27/06/2024 17:07

@MrsKwazi yes 2 in each leg I’ve given calpol twice today can I give her more if it’s only even 3hrs? I think someone told me u have to wait 4 hrs between doses

No you can’t give her another a dose after 3 hours. Have you checked her legs? I had to put a cold compress on my sons. He reacted terribly to his 12m injections (think screaming for 24 hours and getting himself into a terrible tizz) he wouldn’t put his feet down either. It thankfully passed but I was worried sick. You know your child best though, if you feel it’s more than a vaccine thing get her checked xx

You should really know about medication for kids - it tells you on the bottle the dosing and timings. Not being a cow saying that, just it's vital to know so they don't accidentally get too much.

Her legs are probably sore and stiff, bless her. Try a warm bath and maybe some cool damp washcloths on the injection sites.

You can't give more calpol until 4h, but you could give baby ibuprofen - this is better for muscular pain anyway which is probably what she has - injecting into the thighs can cause muscle pains & swelling.
Has she got red patches where she was injected? My DD got red lumps but they went down after about 24h.
She probably just needs a good sleep and will be much better in the morning.

My little boy was the same with his injections, it was hard going, but he was fine by the next day.

Lollibert · 27/06/2024 17:17

@newrubylane was he refusing to walk or move his legs too?

The box should also say 4hrs apart, his legs are sore should be fine tomorrow

QuestionableMouse · 27/06/2024 17:42

It says on the box. 😊

You can give calpol (paracetamol) then two hours later give ibuprofen as long as you don't give more than the max amount. I think it's four doses per 24 hours.

@Cas112 hi yes I’ve just checked it does didn’t notice because they highlighted how many doses in 24hrs but didn’t highlight the 4hrs apart
