Query about doctors notes

hello, I took my daughter to our local urgent care this morning about a rash that had appeared. She's absolutely fine but we were sent to a&e to be checked and the doctor gave me his notes to hand to a&e

when I got there they gave me some paperwork with the first doctors notes and he'd written clean clothes, caring mother

Im not bothered that he wrote it I just wondered why they write that?

I've never seen my child's appearance or
my parenting be commented on before in notes and I just wondered why that's all

Surprised the writing was legible. I would imagine it meant there is no sign of neglect.

Bitsandbobs1892 · 25/06/2024 12:32

It was typed haha

It is written so that if the child was neglected, they could leave out those comments, and the comments not being there speaks volumes, without the parent seeing the notes realising what is being communicated and getting uncooperative

Pointlessly wondering!
if my kid is very ill they are unlikely to be in clean clothes - more likely faded Comfy pajamas that they don’t want to be changed out of if no energy / shivery with fever etc. and I wouldn’t be having a hair brushing battle either if she’s unwell, so she would generally look a hot mess if headed to a&e with a rash! Would this raise a neglect issue? Just wondering as the caring part I get, but clean clothes on a poorly kid feels a high Standard if they have a high temp and you’re on day 5 of no sleep/ vomiting etc.

I wonder if maybe because her rash was pin prick bruises maybe that's why they stated not neglectful?

she was otherwise well in herself it was just the rash

When ever I see my psychiatrist he notes that I'm appropriately dressed and washed.
It is noted so that if there is anything in the future they know that there were no concerns at this appointment and not that the concerns were accidentally written up. For me not being appropriately dressed would be an indication of being mentally unwell

@Donutsfirst you can still tell the difference between a favourite pair of comfy PJs that has been vommed on and something in tatters that has never been washed with a mum who is more interested in her phone than her child.

Faded isn't the same as dirty. Negkected / harmed children are more likely to be in dirty / smelly / old clothes. Comfy jammas for a sick kid isn't a red flag. A seemingly uncaring parent with a smelly child in dirty ill fitting clothes is a red flag.
