Hi my dd is 18 and starting uni in sept , I understand that this is in between , I think that she might need a filling would I have to pay in full for a white one ?

From 18 you pay in full, even if they are in full time education.
That's the rule at our dentist.
Get it booked in well before she's due to leave home in case she needs a further appointment.

The nationwide rule is that up until age 19 if they are in full time education then the NHS covers the cost. No need to pay. Your dentist seems to be taking advantage of teenagers.

Thankyou yes that’s what I thought , I’m just wondering about white fillings , I know that if a child under 16 needs a filling it has to be white and not amalgam

It's actually under 15s and there are exceptions to that rule too; it's not an absolute.
