Flat Head

I have 6 month old twin boys ( 5 adjusted) both have flat heads, one at the side one at the back. The twin with Plagiocephaly has been with a PT from he was about 8/9 weeks old my other boy with Brachycephaly has only started seeing a PT.
I keep being told that it will correct itself but then I read that it won’t. I feel so guilty, I try and keep them off their head as much as I can, but with twins it is hard. I also try and correct their position as much as I can. GP dismissed my concerns too and said it corrects as they grow.

Im waiting on the Perfect Noggin to be delivered, they’re not rolling yet so want to try this. I really really don’t want to helmet them.

Has anyone else’s child/children had flat heads? Do they correct or fix itself? Have you any tips? Did the PN help if you used it? Did you end up with a helmet?

Thank you :)

Hi, my little girl had a stiff neck and would always turn to one side. She had a really bad flat bit at one side, it made her ear move out of place and everything!

We got a pillow that we put in her pram etc or when she was lying in the house whilst supervised. She also sat in a beanbag which helped. We started to notice a difference really quickly and when she started sitting more etc it sorted itself out. She's 5 now with a perfect head shape.

I worried myself sick about it but we didn't need a helmet or any of that and hers was honestly so bad!!

I thought it was really common and just corrects itself once they start rolling/sitting up. I'm sure both of mine had flat ish heads at the back but they definitely didn't by the age of 1

I'm going through the same thing now with my little boy and he's 4.5 months old.

I was worried at about 4-5 weeks and brought it up at his 6 week check with both GP and health visitor and was told he'll grow out of it. I persevered and have finally been referred to the pediatric doctor at the hospital so fingers crossed we get somewhere.

I really don't want him to have a helmet either.

I had also a lot of concerns about my youngest son's head shape due to mild plagiocephaly, but using the Skully Care App really helped me. Developed by a physiotherapist, the app allowed me to easily monitor his progress by simply uploading a photo. Within minutes, I’d receive the results. While there are other apps available, I found this one to be incredibly clear, easy to use, and it provided quick feedback, which gave me peace of mind. Maybe this will help you as well.
