Over the past few months my 13 year old has very occasionally crumpled top the floor, almost in a faint. He seems to brush it off and we were only aware of the first couple as one time his brother and sister witnessed it and the other he was holding a glass that shattered. He then appeared fine for several months but last night I witnessed it myself - he seemed to crumple to the floor and appear almost drunk for a few seconds. He then got up and asked me the question he had already asked and I had answered before, almost like he didnt remember, He brushed it off that he was fine but I am trying to work out what could possibly be causing this? Has anyone had experience of similar?

I think there's a kind of postural low blood pressure that can affect young people - worth a trip to the GP to check.

Take him to the GP. They can order blood tests and check his BP.

Why on earth are you asking here? Take him to the GP or A&E if you can’t get an appointment. His blood pressure is dropping, you need to find out why, urgently.

Hes 13. It’s not up to him to “brush it off”. You need to take charge.

It could be anything - including blood pressure, heart, seizure activity.

It needs checking out.

This.

Could be seziures - they are called atonic seziures and it makes all your muscles relax so you crumple. It only lasts a few seconds and yes the post-ictal confusion does tie in with it.

GP and request a neurology referral. Keep an eye out for any other symptoms - does he experience strong deja vu for example?

Anything from epilepsy to an aneurysm, low blood pressure and everything in between... Checks needed. It's not something I'd be ignoring, get thee to the doctors

Sudden postural BP drop is not normal in a teenager
he could be having a heart arrhythmia or a seizure.
is there any history of sudden unexplained death in your family tree?

get him seen asap. He needs a full exam and an ecg and possibly more ongoing investigations.
