Should I be worried about this?

Hello,

I have a daughter who is 14. In the last few weeks she has been complaining about having what she can only describe as out of body experiences (please don't stop reading, I worry what she is describing might be something else).

She says her body almost goes numb and she can hear people talking to her, she just can't reply to them until it passes. She says this can be for 10 seconds or what feels like up to a minute or so. When she snaps out of it, the feeling returns slowly to her body and limbs.

I am worried she might be describing absent seizures or something like that? She is otherwise well aside from a few weeks ago when I has to take her to the Dr with pain in her spine (described by her as bone pain like someone was squeezing her spine). Nothing came of it and despite a through examination etc, they couldn't find anything and the pain went after a week or so.

Has anyone else experienced something like this?

Thanks

Well DD has shutdown as part of her autism where she can't talk to people, situational mutism can be similar in the 'cant' talk aspect but asking on here is only going to get you various anecdotes, GP is the best bet.

It does sound a bit like absence seizures. But, it also could be anxiety related - depersonalisation/derealisation symptoms.

I have thought for a while she may be neurodivergent but know girls mask it easier then boys.
