Wobbly adult tooth in 14 year old DS

DS has just informed us that one of his front teeth (upper) is loose. No accidents, bumps etc

Me and DH both on Denplan (no local NHS dentist) and DS goes free to our dentist. Obviously they are not at work on Sat/Sun.

I am worried about what to do if it comes out.

Have left message on dentist emergency number, and I know there is a teaching hospital for dentistry about an hour away not sure whether we could just rock up there on a Sunday though. If we go to A and E its going to take hours and hours to be seen, of that I have experience.

How long can a tooth survive? (I know it is recommended to store it in spit or milk not water to preserve the root if it is intact on the tooth so they can try to re-implant).

Never a dull moment with kids is there?

111 can provide details of out of hours dentists.

A&E for a loose tooth is frankly ridiculous.

Update

I have to say I was feeling shaken up -if an adult tooth comes out there is a limited time to re-implant the root so it is considered a dental emergency - if a tooth did fall out otherwise he'd have to have a false tooth and at great expense. Not appealing at 14. Anyway we rang the out of hours number for the surgery last night.

It doesn't seem to have got more wobbly overnight and someone from our surgery rang us this morning with advice. She thought in the absence of an abcess or direct injury it was unlikely to fall out and we can make an appt tomorrow.

Going to check with them what the procedure is if something like tooth loss happened over a weekend again. Fingers crossed it won't.

@Miloandfreddy will report back.

Its always good to have a plan in mind just in case. Teeth are precious!

The dental hospital will only take referrals from another dentist, and A&E would not help, they do not specialise in teeth and are unlikely to have dentists on site. It's not an emergency anyway.
Try not to wobble it out, hopefully it can stay in till he sees an emergency dentist. There must be one you can access through Denplan?
I lost a wisdom tooth a few months back, it just came out like a baby tooth, and I'm in my 40s! Not the same thing but it does happen!
