Hayfever in kids

My Daughter (7) has recently developed hay fever. Normally she gets itchy eyes, sneezes, blocked nose etc.

She came home from school yesterday and within a couple of hours her face and eyes were really puffy. Her eyes were bright red and really itchy. I've never seen her face puffed up like that before.

It looked more like an allergic reaction to me. We gave her the hayfever medicine and it did slowly go down, but even this morning her eyes were still a bit puffy and look sore.

Is that a normal reaction or is it something I need to get checked out if it happens again?

I think hayfever can do this.

My DD is also 7 and after finding antihistamine syrup did little to help last year she has just started a nasal steroid spray. It's working brilliantly. Kids have to have them prescribed by the GP

Have you changed anything at home - washing powder, pets, etc?

Both of my DC gave hayfever and I was advised by a paediatrician to give regular antihistamines, not just when symptoms flare up

You might need eye drops or nasal spray to help, GP should be able to help
