Bit of history… sorry for the long post!!

I have 4 children and I’m not normally an anxious mum if that makes sense, but something isn’t sitting well with me about ds3. He’s 4 years old.

Last year he got the IGAS infection which lead to a mastoid infection this was because the drs didn’t believe me when kept saying something wasn’t right… they only listened when his ear was completely stuck out. When we first saw the dr in a&e he made a comment about my son not needing a&e as he was running round like an absolute loon 🤦‍♀️ he then truly apologised and explained how poorly he actually was and my son was on IV antibiotics for 10 days then had to have oral for another 3 weeks and drops. So the point here is my son just doesn’t present poorly when something serious going on!

Hes had a stomach bug about 8 weeks ago, following that he had consipaton which I made a post about.

Fast forward to today… he’s had a rash for around 4 weeks. I took him to the chemist who suggested piriton used for 10 days then went to the dr who said likely to be viral. Fast forward to now, we were sent to a&e yesterday after visiting the OOh drs, sons ear very slightly sticking out (it is slight) and the rash, he’s gone back to napping in an afternoon and impossible to keep awake after a day at school. He gets a temperature at night but other than that absolutely fine.

Tonight I’ve done the glass test as the rash just isn’t sitting right with me… please can you look at the pictures and reassure me that it’s blanching!?

I don’t know what I think is going on just my instincts are telling me there is more to this or more to come.

I can't really see about the rash from the pictures but when my DD had iGas recently, my instinct was strong that there was something sinister going on. Trust yourself to know the difference between standard parental concern about normal illness and that uneasy gut feeling that something isn't right. If you have that gut feeling then just listen to it and go and get your DS seen.

Also just to say I completely understand re the doctors not taking you seriously enough because your DS 'appeared well' in the waiting room. I had exactly the same with DD. There has been plenty of research showing that with infection, children will often be up and down with fever and behaviour rather than a consistent fever and lethargy but unfortunately not all medics seem to have taken this on board.

Could it be scarlet fever? That and slapped cheek are going round at my kids school. Phone 111 maybe?

Thank you, woke up this morning and the rash is still there 🤦‍♀️ why I thought it might go in another 12 hours I don’t know. 4 weeks just doesn’t feel right for a rash?

Called the gp and no appointments today call back at 8am again.
