Could my short baby be tall?

Hi everyone,
My 5 month old son is in the 70th centile for height but 90th for weight. He doesn’t look particularly chubby or stocky. I am 162cm (5’4) and hubby is 188cm (6’2) just wondering if there’s a chance baby boy could end up on the taller end eventually? Our daughter has consistently tracked along the 85th-90th centile for her height since an infant.

You can't tell. My dd was the tallest in her year age 7. She stopped growing at 11 and is now only 5'3'' at 27.

I don't understand why you're saying he's short if he's 70th percentile?

CosmosQueen · 11/05/2024 05:40

A friend’s children were deemed to be short as children (parents were 5’2 and 5’6)
As adults they’re 6’ DD and 6’3 DS so who knows!

I agree he’s not short now so unlikely to be short as an adult!

He's on.the 70th centile so not short. If you follow the 70th centile along in the baby book you will be able to see his estimated height as an adult but really does it matter? He will be what he will be.

70th Cen tile means he is taller than 70% of males his age. IME the curves are pretty accurate.

He isn't short!

Why does it even matter?
