Repeat blood tests - Should I be worried?

My little girl (currently 13 months) has a pea sized lump in her neck which I have been back and forth to the GP about since she was 5 months.
She was referred for a blood test in March and the GP called back asking us to book repeat bloods and follow up GP appointment for 8 weeks time, as one of her markers was slightly elevated.

They said it’s nothing to worry about, but as the date for the repeat bloods is approaching I seem to be getting anxious about it!

I'm trying to have the approach of ‘if it was something serious they would want to see us again sooner than 8 weeks’ however, I can’t help but still worry.

Anyone experienced anything similar?

Thanks x

Did they say which one was high?
I had a similar thing with my daughter where one of her liver function tests was randomly very high and needing repeating. We went back 3 weeks later for the repeat and it had normalised.
I think if there was anything concerning, they wouldn’t have been happy to wait for 8 weeks before the repeat. It’s hard not to worry though! I was exactly the same x

@KC1234 Thank you! They didn’t say which one unfortunately, but hoping it will have stabilised itself by the time we go back like yours did! Xx

I’m sure that will be the case! I suppose lots of things can affect bloods - having a virus / recovering from one etc. hopefully is all ok at the repeat xx

If they’ve had a virus which most of them have at that age, certain ones can be off.

Re the lump, could it be a haemangioma under the skin? Deep ones often are not visible on the surface

@Upinthenightagain I thought so, she did have a runny nose/had just gotten over the flu when we took her for the last ones. As for the lump, I’m not sure? It’s not visible at all on the outside, from a colour or size perspective. You would only know it was there if you feel her neck. It does seem to go up and down in size. When she had the flu it was a lot easier to feel than now. It’s still there but you have to put more pressure on it to feel it x

It could be one. It’s likely to not be anything of concern

Hello - i have no advice RE the bloods but my little girl also has a lump in her neck which has been present for several years. It’s noticeable in general (size of a large grape) and flares up and down when she is unwell - she had an ultrasound and it’s a gland that’s just working very well apparently so I wanted to reassure you it’s most likely nothing but it’s always worth while getting these things checked x

@Hellohihola thank you for sharing, it is really reassuring to hear experiences like this and fingers crossed our outcome will be the same! X

Sounds like a reactive lymph node which is so common. Both my children have them (and still have some old ones which have kind of hardened over time). My eldest had a massive one at one point which warranted bloods and a scan but that too was benign. The GP would definitely not be waiting this long if they had any concerns at all x
