Should I be worried about this rash

Daughter has a bit of a cold and headache for the last few days and has developed this rash on her shoulder today, it's in the same place as she's got slightly sunburnt. She has no symptoms of meningitis and has been in good spirits but the rash doesn't disappear when I put a glass cup over it. Should I be worried?

Tne spots are very uniform, almost in a pattern. Are you sure it’s not sunburn through a pattern in the fabric ? Or that its been rubbed by something

Do you think this looks like a pattern?

I wouldn’t be worried, but I would ring 111. A non blanching rash should always be checked out. My son had one that we couldn’t explain and I rang 111 and they sent us to the children’s ward. So there was no waiting in A&E. They checked his obs etc and observed him for a while then let us go home. It went a couple of days later.

The spots look really regularly spaced out, as if something’s been digging into her. Ask if she can think of anything which could have caused it and if not, it’s always worth getting these things checked. If she’s well enough in herself I wouldn’t be overly worried but it’s better to be cautious with a non blanching rash.

I will go and check what she wore today

I think I've solved the problem, she was wearing this jumper...anyone else agree? X

@Jennywren8
This happened to me a few years ago when I wore a knit jumper like that one on a ride at a fair. My arm and shoulder had that pattern bruised onto it.

Hi OP, I hope your DD is feeling better. How old is she? My DS used to get petechial (non blanching) rashes when he was younger (age 1 - 10ish) and we were always advised to get him checked out. However, it does look very much like an impression of the pattern on the cardigan - I would say, IMO, as long as she hasn't got any more rashes coming up (that are petechial) and she isn't getting worse (i.e. becoming unresponsive / feverish etc) than hopefully she will be on the mend. Obviously, you know your DD and if she needs to be seen by a medic :)

Thank you for taking the time to respond, the rash is still there this morning but thankfully no further ones and she seems okay in herself, just a bit of a sniffle. Feel a bit of a prat by overreacting if it is just the sun going through the jumper which it looks like it is!
