Core & Gait trouble?

Hi,

my almost 3 year old is still having issues with walking and more so with standing still. We can’t put our finger on it and tried to take her to the gp but she refused to let him examine her. He asked some questions but didn’t seem too concerned , suggested it might be stiff calf muscles.

she has met every milestone and her fine motor skills are fine. Talking to our childminder it’s more her balance / core that’s weak. She especially struggles with standing still and moves a lot (weebles). Other toddlers look rooted to the ground and are sturdy. She’s also petit. Her walking has improved but the childminder says she’s very heavy footed. She’s potty trained so in that sense her core works…

we will try again with the dr in the future but just wondering if anyone else has gone through this? I’ve googled and ruled out so many things so would just like to hear from anyone dealing with anything similar or has seen some sort of gait specialist?

Is this a new issue or has she always been the same? Struggling to stand still is very indicative of balance issues. Is her gait quite wide legged/feet turning out? One of my DC was the same but was late to walk and fell over constantly, needed to use hands to get back up again.

Yes my Grandson and he's ASD.. he's had insoles fitted into his shoes since he was 3 ( he's now nine) and will probably need them into adulthood. He goes every 6 months..
He had x rays..
He was fine really.. they are really great at the hospital with him.. one is red one is blue so it taught him left and right.

has dc had a hearing test?
ears & balance are connected.

but yes to physio.

and go to the playground with her. climbing is especially good for core strength.

No but I think her hearing is fine as she always listens to our conversations in the kitchen and inserts herself 😅

yes we go playground but could probably go more, I’m more likely to go library or a cafe with her tbh. She likes going on the slide and playing which at least I think means she’s not in any discomfort .

This is what I thought may help get, some kind of insoles. She hasn’t got any indicators of asd or neurodivergence

Yes, always been the same. Was fine neck strength and sitting as baby. Her gait does tend to be slightly feet turning out. She does fall more than others her age but not all the time. She walked around 15 months but was a bit awkward. She tends to hold on to things when standing or moves about. If a kid fell into her she’d go flying. But she’s ok climbing up a slide. Not quite sure how to improve balance or if there are any activities or excersise to help. I think I’ll try the dr again but ask for a referral to a female physio and hope my daughter comes round to the thought of seeing someone without screaming and telling them to go away 😵‍💫
