Going Over Speed Bumpe - Shaken Baby Syndrome?

Hi, a worried first time dad here.

I was driving today with my 7 month old boy in the back in his car seat who was asleep. My car went over some quite high speed bumps and I looked in the baby mirror and saw him bring jostled about going over the bumps. He didn’t stir but I did notice his head move quite quick side to side when going over the bumps. Would this cause shaken baby syndrome? I’m so worried.

Thanks.

Very unlikely to have caused shaken baby syndrome, especially as your little one's head will have been well protected by the car seat. Maybe a gentle reminder to go super slowly over the bumps for peace of mind (and for your suspension etc too) but I'm sure your baby is ok. Please don't worry.

That's honestly completely fine. As is going over a bumpy pavement in a pram.

For his comfort you might want to go over bumps a bit more carefully but shaken baby syndrome is caused by really violent shaking.

Please don't worry. That is nothing like the level of force seen in shaken baby syndrome.

It's about as much fun as you can have at that age, can't believe doctors and mechanics are that cynical.
