Could this have been chicken pox?

DS5 had cough / cold symptoms, was complaining of a tummy ache a bit and was quite stressed and emotional. A few days later noticed these spots on his lower back which went to pus filled and scabbed over.

He never had a temp and there were no more spots anywhere else.

I know CP is around at the moment but could this had been it? I was covered when I had it, so was DH. Do they ever get a mild case??

99.9% certain
if any other similar spots appear on front of body, face, inside ear etc - then its 100% CP

Around london, many primary to junior school kids have been having these for the last few weeks

They usually crust at top in a couple of days

Well this photo was taken week ago and they haven't spread any more.. they've done a bit more scabby I guess. Now his younger brother has a temp today so I guess time will tell.

It could be. My daughter had this and then about a year later she got chickenpox again and really badly!

That happened to us to. I was pleased to have gotten it out the way and then it came back the week before Christmas. Dc was gutted.

Chickenpox spots are fluid filled blisters, not pus filled spots

Mumaway · 20/04/2024 16:20

Incubation time 7-14 days, so your 2nd child might be confirmation if it was chickenpox. Fluid filled blisters that then scab. Sometimes a few, sometimes hundreds

dementedpixie · 20/04/2024 16:33

Incubation period can be up to 21 days. It was about 15 days between my dd and ds having it
