Stomach issues in 10yo

Dd is 10yo and last Friday started with diarrhoea. She hadn't been sick at all but complained of feeling nauseous at the weekend. Sunday night she kept waking up to go to the toilet through the night.

It started off watery, then mucousy. I've kept her off school assuming a stomach bug, and she felt slightly better but then hasn't been feeling well again. She's just done a poo which wasn't runny but still very soft and had a bit of red in it but it didn't look like blood (she hasn't eaten anything red though so may well be).

She does struggle with trapped wind a lot, which I also do, but her stomach keeps going very bloated and painful.

I can't get her in at the GP until tomorrow, but am I right in thinking this probably isn't a stomach bug or could it still be one? She's not had this before which is why I assumed it was a virus.

Just for info, she is autistic and has a limited diet so she's not eaten anything out of the norm at all.

There are bugs that cause diarrhoea for days on end so it could still be a bug. Bugs can cause mucous as well.

If it were to go on more than a fortnight I’d expect the GP to run some stool tests.

I think it’s a bit too soon to worry about gastro conditions so I’d try not to worry too much.

I have ulcerative colitis but it crept up gradually rather than starting with bad diarrhoea. However I’ve also had a bug in the past called cryptosporidium which gave me an upset stomach for ten days.

Thanks so much for this. I wasn't sure at what point it would become something to worry about so that's put my mind at ease a bit. I had googled but there's so much conflicting info!
