Acid reflux in 6 week old

Looking for some help, my granddaughter is 6 weeks old and has been suffering from colic/acid reflux on and off for the last couple of weeks, my daughter has tried infacol but that made it worse, gripe water not helping.
She rang 111 a weekend ago who sent her to a&E as she's so young, they just said she needs to grow out of it.
This last 48 hrs it's been constant, can't sleep for more than 40 mins if lucky before waking and screaming, she's breastfed and arches her back in discomfort.
When she brings up milk it seems to hurt her and the expression on her face shows there's acid there too.
She's going to try getting a GP appointment, but just wondering if anyone can offer any help?.
She's keeping her up right for 30 mins after feeding, burping in between the feed.

I hope she has seen the gp now

About 40% of 4 month olds have reflux it can range from happy spitter with no issues with weight gain to violent projective vomit with faltering growth to very unhappy silent reflux and many combinations in between

My daughter was a mix of a happy spitter and a very unhappy silent refluxer. My GP told me it was a washing issue. Direct quote! She treated her for mild reflux with gaviscon and mild silent reflux which sadly wasn't sufficient. As she was gaining weight paeds weren't interested until we had to see them for something else and she started on high dose treatment and exploring food allergies. My daughter has both silent reflux and allergies but for some babies the reflux is due to a physical issue. Dairy allergy, or tongue tie or fast letdown

Step 1 of keeping upright isn't helping is to try a thickener such as carobel or gaviscon. It's a bit of a pain to give to bf babies but it can be effective. Unfortunately it can cause constipation and my daughter needed a stool softener to help
Step 2 omperazole alongside the thickener which reduces the amount of acid the body produces

It probably would be worth getting a feeding and tongue tie assessment from a professional and if things don't improve with treatments look into dairy allergies

Thanks for replying, yes she's seen the GP who thankfully his own kids suffered when they were babies so was very sympathetic.
Baby is now on gaviston and my daughter is going dairy free, within hours of taking the gaviston she was a different baby, only down side is constipation.

My daughter started on and off it from 5 to 18 weeks trying to find the right balance of seeing a benefit and not having so much that she was constipated. We couldn't find the right balance so we accepted a prescription of lactulose which is a gentle stool softener. Omperazole gaviscon and lactulose got us into a much better place
