Can the hivemind recommend an elbow support for a skinny tween?

Can anyone recommend an elbow support to wear to provide a bit of compression and support that comes in a really small size?

Dd had an injury to her elbow and has been told to wear a support. Which is proving tricky - she’s a skinny 12yo (upper arm circumference 22cm, she weighs about 40kg) and even the smallest one I found on Amazon (which says it fits that size) is uselessly loose on her. Child sizes will I think be too short - she’s tall for her age.

Physio said to get something more than a tubigrip, though that’s what she’s currently using. Dd is sporty and needs something washable, ideally.

This is a bit odd but have you tried a compression top so she has compression everywhere?
Or a knee support, which there are. Far more off?

She runs hot so I think a compression top might melt her, but a knee support is an idea. Problem is she can’t try them - they can’t be taken out of their packaging without buying them, and I’ve bought two wrong ones already…

I was hoping in the hugeness of MN someone might have had the same problem and found a solution.

Cohesive bandage? She can wrap it herself to the correct tension/support maybe?

I’d never heard of that, thanks! It looks good, can you literally just wrap it around the joint or do you have to use a special technique (like with taping, which I have no idea how to do)?

I did try that but she said it was too tight, so I could buy a size up of tubigrip but I’m a bit wary of buying yet more things to try. Apart from the money, it’s such a waste as you can’t send them back.

Yep just wrap and it sticks to itself. Washable too so doesn't need to be replaced after every use (but does lose it's stick over time).

I've used this style before (but for an ankle). As it's a stretchy bandage rather than a fixed size it might be better.

Can you not ask the physio to advise?

Ambergrease · 14/04/2024 21:16

@idontlikealdi I did, he said have a look in Boots. So I did, and they didn’t have anything and so I tried Amazon and here I am…

@SoupDragon the reviews on that one aren’t great but I’ll have a look for an equivalent- thanks!
