Persistent sore throat

My 7yo has a tonsillectomy one year ago following almost two years of monthly tonsillitis. Post surgery she complained of less pain than she did before and was so well for around three months. However since the end of last summer has complained almost daily of a sore throat and on and off feeling generally unwell along with every few weeks appearing with a spot that look like chicken pox(that arent) but then clear up. We have seen the GP multiple times and had throat swabs and bloods done and all have been normal aside from low iron. We followed this up with an ENT referral which was last month and her tonsils have not grown back and said nothing they can do and she was discharged as no surgical fix so not an ENT issue for them to deal with. It was a two minute appointment with a Quick Look at her throat and rushed out which was frustrating after a long wait. I wasn’t looking for a surgical fix, but Gp had said nothing further they can do and I feel this is not normal. She has had three courses of antibiotics since October for throat infections when she has been very unwell but the general unwell feeling and sore throat have persisted. We have tried an antihistamine to see if allergy related but it also hasn’t made any difference.

I just don’t know what to do now? It feels this can’t be the solution that she just carries on as this, but what can I do now? ENT said nothing they can do, do I ask to be seen somewhere different and hope we seen just dismissed, or what can I ask of GP?

Have you asked the dentist to have a look?
Do you think there is any possibility that your DC is lying, and perhaps likes the attention? I only say that as I’ve known many kids, including myself, who made things up, or made something small seem much worse.
How is she in school, does she complain to them about sore throats etc?
If she’s still having time off school, or she’s complaining of feeling ill in school, I’d perhaps go back to the GP with the fact that it’s affecting her education.

No, I do genuinely believe her and she seems not herself when she complains and will often have a slightly raised temperature too. Not high like when she previously would have tonsillitis but high for her usual. She is back to snoring and being unsettled at night, although no enlarged adenoids could be seen at her ENT appointment.
I hasn’t thought of the dentist, but I will make an appointment, thank you.

It could be a mild viral sore throat that the snoring is irritating.

I snore, a lot, have done since I was baby and having my tonsils removed didn't help. I find whenever I have a run of the mill sore throat I wake up every morning for weeks and weeks with a sore throat that goes by mid morning and returns the following day. There does seem to be some correlation between how sore it is and complaints from my long suffering partner about my snoring the night before

Look into thrush (and overgrowth of candida). We have had a similar experience to you, and have subsequently realised the rounds of antibiotics probably wiped out our child's biome and allowed the candida to overgrow. We got no help from the Dr but after finding out about it and using anti thrush medication and children probiotics our child's constant sore throat problems are finally (touch wood) done.
