What is toddler’s persistent cheek rash?

My 14 month old daughter has had a red bumpy rash on her cheeks for nearly 3 months now. She has seen the doctor several times and tried Zeroderm ointment which didn’t help then clotrimazole anti-fungal cream - this seemed to be helping but every time it starts getting better it flares up again and never completely goes away. Dr has now prescribed cetraben so we will see if that works. It looks exactly like slapped cheek rash to me however while she always has bit of a cough/runny nose since starting nursery she hasn’t had a temperature so dr has ruled it out. Has anyone else experienced this sort of persistent rash with their baby/toddler and if so have you had any success with drs actually finding the cause and prescribing a cure?

Check if the clotrimazole you have also contains a mild steroid like hydrocortisone. If so, it could be that it's an eczema or similar type rash, so the steroid is helping settle it, but not solving the underlying issue. It sounds like that might be what the doctor is thinking, as cetraben is one of the first emollients they try for eczema.
