Pre teen and discussions around how much they eat /always hungry

My pre teen daughter is a healthy weight and very active, does swimming, dance and martial arts weekly.
my partner thinks she eats for the sake of eating sometimes, perhaps out of boredom rather than hunger although she will state she’s hungry and sometimes this is an hour after lunch for example.
i don’t really like my partners choice of language as he says things like your not hungry, you can’t be hungry, you have to control your eating and not eat for sake of eating and things like that.
I would think something like, if you’re hungry you can have some fruit or veg sticks if I think she’s just eaten a good lunch or something.
am I right to approach carefully? Any advice or links for advice on this area would be appreciated. Thank you

How often is she saying she is hungry?
Is she having proper meals through the day and having big enough portions?
I think if she is still hungry, your approach of offering healthy snacks is correct - much less likely to take up the offer if they aren't really hungry.
I don't think anyone should be telling a young girl to control their eating.
