Hemangioma on baby- fusidic acid

Our 8 week old has a little Hemangioma strawberry birthmark on the back of his neck, unfortunately right where the neckline of clothes is so it's become irritated and turned into a nasty scab. The Dr prescribed a fusidic acid cream - I just wondered if anyone else has experience of this and if the cream worked? Thank you

Fusidic acid is an antibiotic cream, so will only work on infected skin. Different scenarios, but my daughter has had an infected finger and toe, and fusidic acid has helped in a day or so.

Our GP prescribed this for my babies when they had infected eczema. It worked really quickly and is still DDs go to as a young adult when she has an occasional nasty flare up.

Thanks so much ladies, that's really interesting. It sounds like it's probably not quite what my baby needs then as i don't think his birthmark is infected currently, it's ulcerated because it's right where it gets rubbed against by every top, the fold of his skin, where he leans when feeding etc. I feel so sorry for him and it just seems to be staying the same or even getting worse 😔

This is an informative read if you haven't already. It suggests using dressings to protect the haemangioma in folds.
