He has just signed her off and said it’s a cold but we aren’t so sure

What do think it might be?

Have you tried calling 111? They are pretty useless though.

Not sure ! Was meant to have a lung test on thursday was cancelled tho and moved to the end of this month. 111 are most useless and when I’m almost there they always cut me off! No point

I was never one to get too worked up when my kids got sick when they were little, but if my child started coughing up blood, could barely breathe and was faint, I'd be taking them straight to a doctor, A&E if an office visit was not immediately possible, and I would not just sit on my hands and be fobbed off. I would demand answers and proper treatment until my child got it.

Sorry, but you're far too laid back about this in my opinion.

Nohousemove · 04/03/2024 20:23

I would say they need to be seen today.

INeedNewShoes · 04/03/2024 20:26

If the symptoms of dizziness and throat tightening are new and she hasn't been seen by a doctor with these then I think you have to be cautious.

The feeling of a tight throat could be restricted airway and the dizziness could be because she's not getting enough oxygen. You'd be absolutely reasonable to go to A&E and I actually think you should. I'm not one for saying this lightly. You can't mess around with asthma and the new dizziness is concerning.

Pack a bag with entertainment, snacks and water, expect a long wait and go to A&E.

Thislittlepiggylikeschocolate · 04/03/2024 20:26

Not convinced this thread is for real! Surely you would get a child straight to A&E if they can't breathe!!

SummerOf46 · 04/03/2024 20:42

She can breathe she’s just worn out. I did take her to a&e on Friday and waited from 10am till 7pm and they did nothing about it except say she’s got a cough and a sore throat

Have you got an oxymetre? Do you know the sign of respiratory distress? Call 111, go to A&E, take action

BrightLightdarklight · 04/03/2024 21:16

I also think a child with known asthma and feeling their throat is tight and dizzy needs seeing. Being worn out is another concern, even if not obviously wheezing and struggling, I think they need seeing today.

It could be a cold. It could be a worsening asthma attack. It could be an typical chest infection. It could be a significant allergic reaction. It could be any combination of the above. Or something else. None of us can assess her over the internet. The situation has worsened since she was reviewed. So give her reliever (presumably 10 puffs of salbutamol) and get her checked out again.

That’s what my husband thought that she had a cold. But she’s a lot worse than she is when she has a cold. Her only allergies is melon but has not been around some or ate it

Today I called 111 for some reason and told me to go to our local doctor surgery tomorrow as all the appt would have been filled for today so lucky me going to the doctors for 8:15 😑

How did you get on at the doctor's?

I don't understand your 'lucky me' comment. It makes it sound as though you resent having to get somewhere for 8am to get help for your daughter.
