Travel sickness

Hi

My 8 year old gets travel sick. Cars, planes, trains, so doesn't seem related to one particular motion. We have tried the acupressure bands and travel sickness tablets (kwells). These don't seem to help at all.

Does anyone have any tips or anything else that can help? I know tiredness and hunger can make it worse but I was wondering if there is anything stronger available on prescription for example? They have a school residential coming up on windy roads and are worried about the journey there.

Thanks

You should ask at the pharmacy. There is a medicine they can take the night before. Stugeron is also good, but not sure of youngest age it can be taken.

Encourage child not to look down (like watching a tablet or reading), but keep head up, facing forward and maybe look at the distance. An air supply is helpful too, like a vent or open window. A savoury snack can sometimes help, or ginger or mint.

I get terribly motion sick, so these are things that help me.

Definitely agree to ask the pharmacy. My DD still suffers badly and it's impacted her life. (We're working on that). Don't just leave it as one of those things they grow out of.

Thank you. I got the kwells from the pharmacy but I'll ask if there is anything else. I feel so miserable for them

I get wickedly travel sick too, I never grew out of it at all and still always have to drive or I’m sick, as
does my daughter, so I totally empathise.

all the above advice is good- I’d recommend she sits in front seat of coach so she can look out wide window and keep eyes on the horizon.

I have heard that child's Piriton works for motion sickness.
