Anyone else's child had this awful virus?

DS 8 had Covid about 2 weeks ago.
Seemed to be on the mend after a few days of coughing & feeling snotty. Had a week or so where he was absolutely fine.

On weds I had to collect him from school as he was complaining of a headache. He's been really poorly since. High temp, no appetite, tummy aches, headache, sleeping and crying on and off.
I'm just hoping he turns a corner soon - has anyone else had this recently? Wondering if it's the Covid or a different virus?

My ds3 has this, hasn't mentioned a headache but has all the other symptoms you've described. He had exactly the same thing 2 weeks ago and was still getting over that when he got ill again. As far as I know it wasn't covid. I came on here as wondering what it is and whether he needs to see a doctor

2 of mine have had something similar especially the headaches and stomachs ache. It also knocked them out physically. Ds2 practically slept for 3 days!

I've had covid, about a month ago and one of the things it's left me is this feeling like the start of a migraine. Only thing is that it's not really developing into a full migraine, and it's on the top of my head rather than over my left eye.
I didn't have that while I had covid symptoms; it developed about two weeks after. I had exactly the same after my first covid injection (but not the other two) and it took about 6-8 weeks to go.

So sorry to hear others have got this. It's the worst I've I ever seen DS.
He's woken up again with a a headache this morning, crying as it hurts so much. He's also been sick (sorry TMI!) & it seemed to be mainly green mucus so I'm wondering if all that is clogging him up & causing the headaches

We took DS to the docs on Friday. He checked him over but seemed to think it's viral, probably still the covid in his system even though he was fine in between

My 7 year old DD has this, high temperature and keeps complaining of a headache and tummy ache, kept waking up
last night crying in pain because of the headache. Paracetamol doesn't help but ibuprofen seems to do the trick. Will do a Covid test today.

Mine had stomach ache, headache and high fever a couple of weeks ago, and he's still occasionally saying he has a tummy ache now. He's eating ok though and running around normally most of the time, so I'm hoping it's either a memory of the pain or just a slightly upset system.

I know a couple of friends whose children seem to have been ill for weeks, endless temps and tummy aches but very off and on. I don't know if it's the same virus or new similar ones.

Also just to say - I think generally advice is that if a headache is so painful it wakes you up, you should get checked out.

Yes, 3 of my children had these symptoms 1 tested positive for COVID and was ill again a week later and it's taken a while to get it out of her system. The other 2 tested negative but a viral infection 2 weeks later. Dr said is been awful a lot of people have been unwell lately. I hope your little one gets better soon.

What you're describing is Long Covid. Temporary recovery is often seen (sometimes up to 6 - 8 weeks of feeling better, but often less) but if the virus hasn't cleared then it starts to cause issues like these - and not necessarily those experienced in the acute phase (hence the confusion and thinking that it must be a different virus). In fact, most Long Covid symptoms are completely different from those experienced by ppl in their acute phase.
You can find support from the Long Covid Kids group on FB. Don't bother with GPs, they know nothing about this, and will tell your kid they have anxiety or depression.
