MiYOSMART OR Stellest for Myopia

I want to start a new thread to gather peoples opinions on Myopia treatment

Boots and VIsion express to STellest ( glasses with these lenses) . COst around £300

Specs savers to Miyosmart - Cost £225

Being indifferent to costs, have people tried one of these 2 lenses ontheir kids and found benefits ( less worsening of the power. These lenses kind of guarantee that your power wont become worse a lot. Say from -1 to -1.5 as opposed to -3 in a few years)

I am really confused which one to choose. Stellest is relatively new compared to Hoya (Miyosmart)

But i prefer the vision express choice of frames.

Any thoughts would massively be appreciated

This is for my 11 year old son. We were a bit shocked when we heard he has myopia as me and Wife do not wear any glasses. Its this generations screen time which has caused part of the damage

I'm watching as we've just ordered some stellest glasses for youngest dd who is 9

Her eyes are -1.5 and - 2

I'm honestly gutted how can a child's eyes be so bad at such a young age . Feel like it's something I've done wrong and I am hoping and praying it helps halt her eyes getting worse

Mine use the specsavers contact lenses.
Dd is 9 and Ds is 7. The eldest is -3.5 in one eye -0.75 in the other. Youngest - 0.75 both.
They are both pretty bad. It’s hereditary as my vision is very poor too. They do not use screens excessively but they read a lot. They do not use screens at all 4 days a week. They do however do lots of sport and spend time outdoors regularly. They are outdoorsy kids but genetics mean they were likely to end up -8/-10. So getting contacts was a good choice for use.

They use lenses due to the amount of sport they do. They have worn them almost 1 year. Both deteriorated at the 6 month check by .25 in the (now) .75 eyes. However 3.5 remained the same.

They wear them 10 hours a day. 6 days each week. So exactly as recommended. We havent tried the glasses as it doesn’t work with their sport. I have no idea if they are working as although they got worse they may have been even worse without lenses.

Optom here - they both work to the same degree (they have peripheral blur which reduces myopic progression). If you prefer VE frames - go with those.

As a PP said - THE most important thing is ensuring that they spend a decent amount of time outdoors every day - at least 50 minutes 5 times a week.

Thank you for your suggestions. More always welcome from other people.

Just hope it doesnt worsen a lot in years to come

Hi just wanted to bump this to find out how peoples experience of the myopia lenses is, some time later?
What did u decide in the end OP?

We had miosmart ones for our 10 years old after 6 months her eyesight went bad and they made her new glasses, after another 6 months then they said eyes went slightly bad but not enough to get new lenses which made me very uncomfortable, with the lense guarantee which lasted 14 months in our case on the next appointment it went further down & they wanted to replace the glasses but now lense guarantee was over so wanted another £388, so I refused n just got her NHS ones, I'm also looking into boots one or probably get her same ones from different opticians as I do think my current ones were only interested in money
