Hi,

Can anyone recommend anything for car sickness in children (age 5)

I know you can buy things over the counter which I intend too but does anyone have any that they have found work really well?

It seems to becoming more frequent and want to try and get ontop of it.

thanks x

The pressure point wrist bands are good

Rachaelc1981 · 12/02/2024 15:42

Hi, I’ve used the travel pressure bands. They look like little sweat bands that go on your wrists, on the inside there is a small plastic ball that has to go on a certain point on the wrist. I used to suffer really badly with travel sickness but I found these worked really good for me. I got mine from the £shop but you can get them from loads of different places. Hope that helps x

Kwells. They can take them from the age of three and are amazing.

Thanks everyone for your replies, I ended up with kwells tablets that you can suck or chew 30 mins before a journey and they have been great so far! X

Travel pills from the pharmacy should work if you use them correctly. You often need to take them some time before travel and they're ineffective if you don't.
I listened to a radio programme about travel remedies recently and the conclusion was that the pills work if taken as per the instructions

I find my son is worse with an empty stomach so make sure they have a substantial meal about 30 mins you set off.

I suffer from travel sickness, as have all three of my children (although it has got better for some of them as they have got older). Personally I have not found the bands very effective, but I would also agree with other posters re: Kwells and also travelling on a (medium) full stomach. Be careful to not eat a full meal immediately before you go, in case it comes back! As pp said, 30 min digestion time is good. I like the Kwells because there is only a 20 minute lead in time, whereas some of the others need much longer.
Also tend to travel with a ziplock bag and some wipes and when they were smaller, spare clothes, just in case!
