Sick bug with a newborn

Please help if you can. I’m riddled with anxiety at the moment. My just 3 year old was sick sooooo many times during the night for about 6 hours. His been ok today. No more sickness and he ate some plain bland food. I’m pleased his better but I’m so concerned about the rest of us getting it, especially my 10 week old baby. I’ve bleached everything I can and tried to decontaminate as much as possible. Being only 3 years old I’ve not been able to isolate him. He doesn’t understand to stay away from everyone in his bedroom. But I’ve managed to not let him touch the baby. What else can I do??
Has anyone else been in a similar situation? Has your baby avoided it? She’s bf btw. Or has anyone’s baby caught it and been ok? I’m so worried incase she does catch it and has to be taken to hospital.
Also, I worry about contamination. No actual vomit got on the carpet but I keep thinking some of the virus particles could have landed on the carpet and then it’s been walked round the house from the bottom of our feet. My other children play on the floor so they could catch it that way possibly. My brain is in overdrive! :( Xx

How are you all doing? I get paranoid about sickness bugs so understand how you feel but I would say the risk of your 10 week old catching it is low as they are not mobile yet so you can control what they will touch. Please don't worry about contaminated carpet if it wasn't actually vomited on. I think there is a slight risk from particles but that's when you're near the child whilst they are vomiting and it gets airborne.

One of mine had a horrendous sick bug 10 days ago and noone else caught it despite both DC playing together, cuddling etc. DD1 touched some of the toys DD2 touched inbetween vomits and has been fine. Good luck!

My 1 year old and 3 year old are all over each other- one of them had a sickness bug all night and the other one avoided it- it was only in his bedroom and a bowl. Don't worry too much Xx

Thank you for replying @ABwhyAB @mumtoboys12
Unfortunately despite my best efforts, my husband and my eldest child both caught it. Baby and me are still fine for now. I’m really struggling. When do you think we’re in the clear and can relax? X

@Cooley sorry you are feeling so anxious, I know the anticipation of wondering whether you'll get sick is horrible. Usually after 72 hours in my experience you're in the clear (between 24 and 48 hours is most common), so I think you're in the clear from your 3 year old but it depends when others got sick.

Although I doubt you'd get it from your DH as he should be able to practice good hygiene.

I wouldn't worry too much about your newborn catching it though, even if they do, they are usually over very quickly, breastmilk will provide some immunity and good hydration. It will be OK 🤗

I forgot to add, my eldest had his first sickness bug at 6 months old so not that much older and it was very much a non-event for him. He'd vomit profusely then be his normal self, then vomit again and that was pretty much it! He was a bit off his milk for a few days but I remember being so surprised how unaffected he was. I didn't even consult a GP.

It was definitely a sickness bug as I then had the pleasure of catching it (hard to avoid when his first surprise vomit had been all over me), and was a lot more ill than he was! They are resilient little things.
