Considering a private vaccine for ds for chicken pox vaccine. He is 5 asd and think the older he gets without catching it the more difficult it could be. I had it quite late on, about 15 I think and it was awful. Anyone had it were there any side effects or anything to be mindful of?

No side effects for my kids. One was in contact highly infectious child in ballet changing room 4 years after vaccination ( selfish, ignorant mother who also managed to infect my pregnant friend). She got spots all over which went away within 24 hours!

We have had this vaccine for our DC. I think a slight runny nose was the only side effect. Would definitely have it again for future DC.

It's standard where I live. We actually get it as a four in one vaccine with MMR now. No side effects for any of my DC.

My eldest had it age 1 and my youngest will have it when she turns one.

No side effects at all.

Dc1 had the vaccination, no issues whatsoever. First time I booked it for dc2, lockdown happened. Second time I had to cancel because she had chicken pox, caught from preschool. Dc1 was fine.

No side effects for my kids, my DD was 5 and DS was 3 when they got them. However, the school did make DD stay home for a week after she had the vaccination as it is a live vaccination but I suspect that it not common.

No side effects for DS. Our GP offers it (although you have to pay). The only thing to say is that you absolutely need to have both doses. When a nasty bout of chicken pox went round nursery, I was amazed at how many of the kids only had the first vaccine and the parents had forgotten or not bothered with the second. They all caught it. DS was fine!

Both of mine have had it privately at Boots with no side effects. My youngest is disabled and clinically vulnerable so a no brainer.

Its 2 jabs; 8-10 weeks apart.

DC1 had it when she was 1 or 2 and was fine, no side effects. She has come into contact with chicken pox a few times at nursery and school and hasn't caught it.

Apparently NHS might roll it out according to HV
