A Request for Medical Assistance Advice: Seeking an Earlier Surgery Date and Doctor Recommendations in London for My Son's ACL Tear

My son, currently studying at a university in the Midlands, sustained an ankle injury while playing sports. He has been diagnosed with a knee ACL tear and his surgery is scheduled for June, which seems like a long time to wait. I am in search of doctor recommendations in London. Can we select a known Private Hospital Orthopaedic surgeons doctors and arrange an appointment ourselves? Additionally, are you aware of any methods to accelerate the process and obtain an earlier date for the surgery?

Yes, for most private hospitals all you need to do is ring up and book in with the consultant of your choice. A few do ask for a GP referral so it would be good to have that on hand, as well as any imaging he’s had done (MRIs etc) on a disc for the consultant to see.

The only way you’ll be able to expedite it is probably to go private for the surgery. If he’s uninsured though this will likely be quite costly (high 4 figures)

Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital is the best in the UK when it comes to issues like these. They have 2 locations in London - Bolsover Street & Stanmore. My daughter had major spinal surgery at Stanmore 2 years ago and we really couldn’t speak highly of them enough, they’re world renowned for a reason! Her results have been absolutely amazing and care was first class

@MaloneMeadow, Sorry for the delayed response. I really value your reply and advice. The cost of ACL treatment in London is quite high; I'm wondering if there's a way to expedite the process quicker through the NHS route. I understand you might not have this information, but I thought I'd ask in case others have insights. Much appreciated.
