Low temperate??

Evening.
My daughter is 2 years 10 months old. Since Friday she has had a high temperature Friday didn’t go below 38 was having keeping topped up on calpol and nurofen.
Saturday, Sunday and Monday she only had a temperature in the morning and right before bed gave nurofen on both of these times. Last night her temperature was 39.2 gave nurofen and then in the morning it was 38 came down but then went back up again and it kept going up today more then it has don’t the past few days so it’s like she got better with her temperature then worse again.
Other than the temperature she is happy in her self although today she has been quite upset. She has also started going off her food since yesterday we saw that she’s got one ulcer on her lip near her gum. Yesterday she still ate a lot of food but she was very upset whilst eating. Today all she’s ate is 1 yogurt and 2 smoothies.
Thats a bit of back ground to how she’s been anyways tonight she has calpol at 6pm but a hour later her temperature was just rising so gave her nurofen, I’ve gone to check on her about 10:45pm and her hair was wet so I though I’d check her temperature (we’ve got a bruan ear thermometer that’s always been accurate) and her temperature is reading 35.2 checked again at 11:15pm was 35.5 now it’s back down to 35.2 at it’s this normal? I was just worried because she’s sweating but her temperature is low.
I was going to go to the doctors in the morning anyways with her not eating and on day 5 of a temperate but the low temperature is worrying me a bit.
THANKS

Hi op, I would definitely speak with a GP today, as that doesn’t sound right that she was sweating excessively to the point of having went hair, but had a low temperature. If you are sure your thermometer is correct (I have experienced this before with my DD with a similar reading), I would call 111 and speak with them. How is she now? Please do get her checked.

I'd call 111 now and consider a&e if it doesn't come back up.

I think it sounds like it’s time for a GP appointment today - I’d call 111 to get the ball rolling. Mine have had this with the temp appearing to get better and then worse again (but not so much a low temp). I think the longer it goes on, the more likely it might be to need antibiotics rather than it just being a viral thing that runs its course.

Hi all! Thanks for your advice just been to the doctors and she’s got a chest infection. Got some antibiotics so hopefully she’ll be on the mend soon. X

Bless her, glad you got her checked and hoping she is on the mend soon 💐

HappyHolidays22 · 24/01/2024 16:26

Glad you got sorted! You should see a big improvement after 24-48 hours of antibiotics xxx

My dd who is now age 4.5 would often have a low temperature when she was under the weather. Anything over 37.0 for her and she will physically look poorly too so it's just understanding how your dds body reacts to infections.

Glad you got antibiotics though. She'll improve really quickly now I bet.
