Children's toothpaste

I don't know if I'm being stupid or not. My child's toothpaste says it's contains Sodium Fluoride 0.135% (1450 ppm fluoride). That's the same as my adult toothpaste. So does that mean a child can use the adult toothpaste (obviously won't as it's stronger). I have a 3-5 year old toothpaste and a 6-9 one and they're both the same. So can an older child use the younger child toothpaste if they prefer the taste?

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

The dentist always told me that children’s toothpaste is just a marketing thing so but whatever I want.

Yes, when children are young they need a lower concentration toothpaste but once it reaches the same as a normal toothpaste they can use it too.
Children's toothpaste is usually milder or fruit flavoured though, as some kids don't like the stronger mint taste; but if your DC is happy with the taste switch them to normal toothpaste.

Yes it's just about the flavour. Ours is the same and it confused me too!

Thank you. I thought so! My DS6 hates the 6-9 toothpaste as he doesn't like the stronger taste, so I'll keep him on the 3-5 stuff if it's all the same!! And I'll use the 6-9 to get rid of it 🤣

We were told the only difference was flavour.

My children use a 3+ oral b toothpaste (the youngest still uses a milk teeth one as she's just turned 2) and I often use the 3+ one if I've run out of toothpaste. It has same fluoride levels

My 11yo still uses kids' toothpaste because it's as good, and doesn't set off her sensory issues. I imagine she'll use it into adulthood.

Might be worth checking ingredients and avoiding the ones containing titanium dioxide which is banned in France (but not in uk). I think Aquafresh has it but oral b does not.
