5yo appears to have stopped growing

My 5yo is currently 103cm, I’ve just measured her now. At approximately this time last year she was 102cm. We saw a paediatrician in September last year who measured her as 103 and was completely unconcerned. Would I be unreasonable to go back? The last thing I want to do is waste doctor’s time, but equally it’s becoming increasing apparent she’s shorter than her peers…

Other relevant info: her hair doesn’t really seem to grow (never been cut since birth and only a bit below her shoulders), I’m 5’8 and DH is 6’0, she has an excellent appetite, not skinny. In all other areas seems totally normal, she’s just not growing!

Thanks everyone

Can you tell us more about what she eats / how much she eats? It might be worth calculating during a rough day / week how many calories she is eating.

Does she have issues with her stomach or using the bathroom?

What's her teeth like?

What’s her BMI last year compared to this year and has her weight increased?

My DC weight was decreasing and this caused their height to stall.

Have they been tested for celiac? That can cause height issues.

@sockmuncher thanks for replying, left to her own devices she would eat non stop tbh. I have to be pretty careful to make sure most of her plate is salad/veg, as she has eaten to the point of nearly being sick in the past. She currently resides on roughly the 50% bmi and I’m pretty vigilant to keep her there if that makes sense.
No issues with toileting or teeth. We eat a mixture of chicken/fish/cheese/eggs for protein, and’s for carbs she has bread/rice/pasta. She normally has about 8 different fruit/veg types a day but small portions of each.

@Namechange1267 thank you, she’s not decreasing in weight. As above I have to be fairly careful that she doesn’t gain loads though, as she has no off switch for wanting more food really. Haven’t tested for celiac, is that a blood test that I can request?

Thanks again!

This is worrying and GPs often dismiss growth concerns - god knows why. I would go back and I'd also recommend you phone the Child Growth Foundation who will help you navigate through how to get your concerns addressed.

I know you said no toileting issues but just checking about frequency of urination, has it got more frequent? How about thirstiness? Also is her vision ok?

Just an update - had blood test done and many things tested for I think. Liver, thyroid, celiac and full blood count. All normal. Paediatrician appointment tomorrow and I really hope they’ve got some ideas (!).

Does anyone know if just being gluten intolerant (but not celiac) could affect growth? I’m grasping at straws tbh but just wondered if gluten issues could still be relevant even if not celiac.
