DD prone to ear infections

My DD 7 is prone to getting ear infections and the docs have prescribed her antibiotics on several occasions over the last couple of years. We are due to go abroad over Easter and worried about if she gets an infection (going to be in the swimming pool a lot).
Does anyone know if a doctor would do a prescription for antibiotics for us to make up "just in case" as I know antibiotics in the US can be very expensive

I’m sure you can get some putty that moulds to the ear and is waterproof so that no water gets in her ears. Prevention is probably better.

My ds was very prone to ear infections. He had months where they were literally back to back, and he had three lots of grommets.

His GP used to do us a prescription when we were going away. I don't think I often used it, but this was because ds had about 4-6 hours after he said his ears were hurting where if we started antibiotics he'd recover normally, otherwise within the next 24 hours he'd have a burst ear drum. This was tested more often than anyone liked, so I knew I could phone the surgery and leave a message saying Ds needs antibiotics and they'd be waiting for me at the pharmacist within the hour.

I don't know how a prescription would work though taken from her to the US, and I don't think they'd like you to collect the medicine just in case. They were happy with me because I would keep the prescription in case it was needed, and not cash it in for the medicine unless it was going to be used.
You might be okay if you ask for a private prescription (ie pay for it) because I'm sure NHS guidelines wouldn't be keen on it for obvious reasons.

But I would also go for the ear plugs. Ds had some that ENT made for him, and then he'd wear a swim hat over the top to hold them in. Once he started doing that, it was unusual that swimming brought it on.
