Worried about measles national incident

I have a 9 month old baby who has not yet been vaccinated. I’m feeling quite worried about the measles outbreaks (we are in London), I have no choice but to send her to nursery at 11 months when she still will not have had the vaccine.
I was fully vaccinated as a child so hopefully she has some immunity from me.
Is this something I should be worrying about? My mother has vision loss from measles as a child, and I really want to protect my baby but feel helpless if they won’t vaccinate her yet.

As you are vaccinated, your baby should be fine.

NHS website explains that the reason the measles jab isn't given until a year is because maternal antibodies last for quite a while and cover the newborn. Giving the vaccine whilst maternal antibodies are still present is less effective, which is why it's not done earlier.

So try not to fret and book your baby in as soon as eligible

I believe babies as young as 6 months can have the vaccine in the event of an outbreak. Can you ask your GP or health visitor?

Thank you! I did previously believe that the vaccine didn’t work properly in babies under 12 months but then read the above about 6 months being possible (in cases of overseas travel etc) which seems to contradict that.

The health visitor service here is truly abysmal unfortunately (had my 6 week check in a room with whole other family having theirs at the same time - mum, dad and gran present) and they are very hard to contact, but hoping to get in touch next week.
