Sensitive content. Baby has scratched herself in her nappy and is now bleeding

Sensitive content warning because of the area which baby has scratched herself. DC is 10 months old.

I don't know the right anatomical word for the area but it's the bit above her urethra. The smooth outside area. She's been trying to touch the area every time I change her nappy. She has no nappy rash, skin there is not red or rashy. It looks soft/healthy etc.
But I've just taken her out of the bath and noticed she must have scratched herself so hard that she's taken the skin off and it's bleeding! I think because the area is already very delicate, the bathwater would have made it even softer and so it's now bleeding.

I've put her nappy back on her as she kept trying to scratch it but I think this will now delay healing as it is a generally damp area. I suppose I could change her nappy every hour or something to avoid it getting so damp? Does anyone know best way to treat this?

Can you dry the area apply a plaster under the nappy ? I would keep a very close eye as you rightly said it is a damp environment so extra challenging.

Just put some sudacrem on and it will be fine. Sudacrem will act as a barrier and let it heal.

My DD hurt herself in her private area when she was clambering out of the bath and slipped on the side of the bath. She had a few tiny cuts which did bleed slightly. I put on a bit of sudocrem and kept an extra vigilant eye on her (she was about 2yo I think). It healed very quickly.

I definitely wouldn't put a plaster on such sensitive skin.

I'd just focus on keeping it as clean and dry as possible and a very thin layer of nappy cream might help to protect it. DD used to get raw skin on her bottom which I used Bepanthen on. It's good because it's so thin so doesn't seem to trap moisture in.

Maybe a sleepsuit with glove sleeves for nighttimes?

We use bepanthen regularly with every nappy change but I was scared to put it on when I saw the scratch as I was scared it would sting her. It actually looks very deep

I wonder if I should make a GP appointment. I initially thought she kept scratching herself as maybe she's just discovered the area but given she keeps scratching the same place maybe she does have some sort of irritation that I can't see. Or it could be that her initial scratching has irritated it.
