Eczema clothing in cold weather

Ds10 has bad eczema, worse in the cold weather.
He wears shorts to school every day, just ordinary M&S school shorts so quite rough material and in the cold air they really irritate the skin on his thighs.
Can anyone suggest any cotton cycling shorts or that sort of thing that he could wear under his shorts? I bought 2 cheap pairs from Decathlon but they don't feel very nice material and I'd happily pay more for something decent.
Or soft cotton school shorts? That might help. I did see a pair on an eczema clothing website but they were £24 for one pair in his size. I might just order them anyway in the hope that they're nice and soft.

He also won't wear gloves and doesn't dry his hands properly after washing them so his hands look really sore right now too. Any recommendations for soft cotton gloves that are quite thin so don't restrict his movement too much? I always make sure he dries his hands properly at home but I'm sure he doesn't at school.

We do have gp support and we have decent creams but in these 2 areas (hands and shorts) he's quite stubborn and just won't helphimself.

I'd be grateful for any suggestions

Poor wee man, sounds sore.

I use silk gloves ( liners for under real gloves) , which I buy on Amazon. I also have eczema and these have been a real boost especially for dog walking. I can keep them on while I adjust leads etc.
That said, whether a 10 year old boy would use them 🤷🏻‍♀️

Also, look for bamboo shorts, as they might give you the required softness.

Sorry, my frame of reference is middle-aged woman, but those are two fabrics which can help, if you can find your products.

My teen wears skins under his shorts. Basic ones from decathlon or sports direct (the decathlon ones have lasted better)

Not cotton, but as the are designed to wick sweat from the skin and dry quickly they haven't seemed to be an issue with his excema. Better in fact then the occasions he has worn cotton leggings which stayed damp next to his skin far longer.

No help with gloves, he refuses everything we've tried there.
