Toddlers toenail lifting?!

My 1.5 y Daughter has a toe nail that looks as if it’s lifting up? She’s very interested in her feet as always but showing no signs of discomfort, is this normal for toddlers?

I am planning on taking her to the GP tomorrow but would appreciate some advice!

TYIA!!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Could it be a fungal infection? I had a fungal big toe nail that look like that at the beginning. But if it suddenly became like that instead of lifting gradually, I would say trauma.

It has looked a bit funny for a while but I always just assumed it was okay until I’ve seen it start lifting! I guess it could be fungal, I can’t think of when she might have hurt her toe as she is always with me

thanks for the advice, I will take her to the GP tomorrow and see what they think from looking at it

Agree poss trauma (could have been a while ago) or post hand foot and mouth. A pharmacist can check too and see if it’s fungal and requires a GP appointment.

Could be iron deficiency too, where you get 'spooning' of nails.

Has she had hand foot and mouth recently? My toddler lost both big toenails in the month or so after HFM. Looked exactly like this.

Gosh I feel so guilty! Thank you though, I hope she’s not in any pain
